front railings

Row of cottages, now one cottage and offices. Early C17, altered C19 and
mid C20. Timber framed, encased in brick, No.10 has front of painted
render. Old tile roof hipped on left. No.6, 2 framed bays; No.8, 2
framed bays and one bay stair turret at rear. No.10, 4 framed bays and
early C20 extension at rear. 2 storeys, No.10 has cellar and attic also.
C17 chimney at rear to No.8. Road front:- originally symmetrical, now
with 2 flanking angular bays the whole height with similar centrally on
first floor, under wide flat eaves with hipped projection. All C20
casements with glazing bars. Ground floor between outer bays are one
6-panel and 2, C20 glazed doors with C19 angular bay on right half of
centre. Late C20 iron hoop railings on dwarf brick wall with semi-circular
brick coping. Iron gate with same design on left hand. These railings are
replicas of C19 railings previously removed. Interior:-No.6 a good early C17
framed newel stair with plain square newels, turned balusters and moulded
handrail.
