GV II*

Churchyard Cross. Late C15. Stone. Square base of cross-shaft set
on an octagonal pedestal with angular projections forming a
square, inscribed plinth and 2 octagonal steps. Each face of
pedestal is panelled and contains figure-subjects thus: north-
west, The Martyrdom of St Thomas of Canterbury. North-east:
a martyrdom or Entombment, seated figures of a king and a monk
on side-piers; south-east, figure subject with 2 carved standing-
figures and one kneeling figure; south-west, 2 crowned figures
at table, small figure in front. On splayed plinth, black-
letter inscription in relief: "Thu Xpe Rli Dei misere mei Et
sic dicit Porter in nomine Ihu (fieri fecit?) I (draton?)".
