Old Bakery House
No. 12)

II

Cottage at end of terrace. Probably C17 origin. Colourwashed stone walls, thatched
roof, brick stacks. One storey and attics. Elevation to road has one casement
window with glazing bars on ground floor and one horizontally sliding sash window
under the eaves. Main elevation - facing east - has central ledged door. Ground
floor has one double-hung sash window and one horizontally sliding sash - both with
glazing bars. Attic has three half-dormers with horizontally sliding sashes with
glazing bars. Single-storey thatched extension to south - probably a former
stable - has one stable door and one part-glazed door. Formerly the village
bakery - interior retains old ovens. Stone buttress at junction of this house and
No. 11 covers a blocked door, indicating that the two houses were originally one.
