16/87 Wall with archway
in front of No. 9

GV II

Garden wall, perhaps formerly part of building. Medieval, with alterations in
C17 and C18. Coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings. Front wall has
stepped roll-moulded parapet over high wide segmental arch with open oeuil-de-
boeuf at right. Lower round-headed narrow arch at left has long-and-short jambs
and keyed moulded head on impost blocks. Square buttress at right of wall.
Possibly inserted opening at lower left has renewed central mullion and square
head.
