II
Suspension footbridge above the River Tees. Circa 1830 for the Duke of Cleveland.
Iron with planked walkway. Narrow, railed walkway suspended on hangers
attached to linked suspension rods. Rods anchored to paired Tuscan end columns.

Present bridge relaced the earliest (c.1741) permanent suspension bridge in
Europe.
