Cottage. Early to mid C16, with later additions and alterations. Timber framed and
plastered. Weatherboarded plinth. Half hipped thatched roof. 3 cell cross passage
plan with addition of c1950 to left. 5 window range of 2 light casements with glazing
bars. 2 vertically boarded doors. Left red brick chimney stack, right red brick
chimney stack with attached diagonal shafts. Stack set against cross passage, the
entrance to which is now blocked, and in the position of the 2nd window from the right.
Segmental arched head to original front doorway. Square rebated heads of 2 service
doorways, studwork partition now missing. Passage ceiling of horizontally laid joists,
now with C20 gallery above, the original service end now open to the roof. Hall with
large inglenook fireplace. Ceiling of slender joists. Inserted ceiling of horizontal
joists to present kitchen, at original parlour end. Remains of crown post roof, the
collar purlin surviving though curtailed, altered square crown post with one thin
axial brace surviving.
