House and shop. C14 or earlier origin with later additions and alterations. C18 facade. Timber framed and plastered with ashlar lines. Red plain tiled roof hipped to left with gablet. Large red brick chimney stack to left and large attached square shaft chimney stack to right rear wing. Moulded eaves cornice with brackets to right, possibly covered to left. 2 storeys and basement. 4 window range first floor with 2 vertically sliding sashes to left and 2 C17 4-light leaded casements with pightle hooks to right. Ground floor, left to right, a C19 red tiled double shop front bay with recessed part glazed door, 2 light small paned vertically sliding sash window, 3 steps to fine 6 panel door with traceried round head light over, plain pilasters with moulded capitals and bases, raised open pediment with dentilled soffits. Original blocked shop front to right now with 3 pilasters with moulded capitals and bases and plain frieze with moulded cornice. Small paned vertically sliding sash window and shop window to upper frame. Basement window with grill below. To the right a lower level red tiled painted brick faced building follows the curve of the road into Queen Street. 2 storeys with double vertically boarded doors to through carriageway with C20 window over. Part of this property may be interlinked with 1 Queen Street q.v. 8/98. The whole of complex plan with several rear ranges. The left rear range with C13/C14 down braced crown post roof construction and lightning scarf to top plate and some C17 panelling. The right said to contain panelling, carved overmantel and beatitudes. RCHM 19.
