Pair of attached cottages. Late C18/early C19, extended in C20. Timber framed,
plastered, roofed with handmade red plain tiles. 4 bays facing S with central
stack. External stack at each end, enclosed by C20 single-storey extension with
hipped roof. No rear extensions. One storey with attics. Ground floor, 4 C20
metal casements. 2 C20 casements at half-floor height, below eaves. 2 C20
metal casements in gabled dormers. 2 C20 half-glazed doors. Gambrel roof.
Chamfered axial beams with lamb's tongue stops. Plain joists of vertical
section. C20 grates. Frame much concealed by plaster, particularly in the left
cottage, no. 75. Shown on tithe map of 1853 (Essex Record Office D/CT 87).
