Obelisk opposite Speech House Hotel

Obelisk, probably C18, ashlar. Square base, about 1m high with
plain plinth, two courses stone and plain flat top with chamfered
underside. Small base and obelisk above restored 1957 (plaque on
side) but base had survived on its own for many years previously.
Inscription notes that it marks the traditional centre of the
Forest of Dean (old photo in hotel).
