SP 70 NE LONGWICK-CUM-ILMER OWLSWICK

House. Originally C15- early C16, altered C17 and C18, extended C20.
Timber frame with whitewashed render infill, mostly rebuilt in
whitewashed brick. Old tile roof, whitewashed brick chimneys.
Main wing of one storey and an attic and 2½ bays; narrow cross wing
to left is of 2 storeys and 2 bays. Irregular C20 diamond leaded
casements, those to first floor of main wing in gabled dormers.
Cross wing has board door with hipped timber porch to right of left
side. Right bay has C20 lean-to extensions to front and rear.
Interior: cruck truss between main wing and cross wing; floor inserted
in main wing C17 with stop-chamfered spine beam and joists; C17
chimney with stop-chamfered lintel inserted in half-bay to right which
retains some C15-C16 floor joists. More heavy C15-C16 joists re-used
in cross wing.
