The Swan

II

Inn. C17 with later alterations and additions. Rubble, brick, pantiled roof
with gable stack to south wing. T-plan including cross wing to south, in
3 blocks of different height. 2 storeys, 1:1:1 windows, left block has two
3-light casements at 1st floor with leaded lights and timber lintel, ground
floor has 3-light casement with brick relieving arch, gabled porch formerly
open, now round-headed window to front and right, C20 door to left; centre
block has 4-light and 2-light casement at 1st floor as in left block, 3-light
casement under eaves, windows flanking porch have plank shutters; right block
has 18-pane sash at ground and 1st floor north, similar window 1st floor front
and panelled door. North elevation has steps to door at loft level, south
elevation has C19 sash, 2 blocked windows at 1st floor, blocked attic window to
east of wing; rear has C19 and C20 extensions of it and single storey, varied
windows. Interior: C20 winder stair, door with chamfered Tudor arched head at
1st floor, plank and batten doors, 1st floor south room has chamfered and scroll
stopped beams.
