II
House. Late C18/early C19, with later C19 alterations and additions. Stucco
lined out as ashlar, limestone dressings and ashlar, coursed sandstone rubble to
rear, slate mansard roof. 2 storeys and 3 windows, ground floor has canted bay
with sash and cornice to each side, central 6-panelled door with fanlight and
radial glazing bars, Regency style porch with fluted columns, frieze with rosettes
and swags and dentil cornice, fluted pilasters to rear, first floor has three
16-pane sashes, 2 later C19 gabled dormers; raised long and short quoins, cornice,
parapet and coping, curtain wall ramped down to left with two light casement.
Right return has 2-light casement at ground and first floor of different sizes;
left return has single storey addition behind curtain wall with two 6-pane sashes.
Irregular rear facade has limestone ashlar canted bay to left with French windows
and 18-pane sash to right and left, cornice and blocking course; sash with horns
above. To right at upper level a round-headed stair light with splayed glazing
bars. 2-storey porch has basket arch with limestone imposts, keystone and
relieving arch, inner door with margin glazing to inner section, 2 small plate-
glass sashes above, limestone top with heavy cornice, pediment with scrolls to
sides, shield in tympanum and ball-finial, blind window to left, sash at ground
and first floor right, cornice, stepped parapet and coping, moulded string course
to sides, curtain wall as on front. Interior: wide entrance hall with panelled
and fielded doors, cornice, curved open string stair with stick balusters and
wreathed handrail. Rest of interior not inspected.
