ST 46 NE BROCKLEY CHELVEY (north side)

Barn. C15, extended to east C19. Coursed rubble with freestone dressings;
double Roman tiled roof. The north elevation has an off centre gabled,
projecting porch with diagonal buttresses resting on tall cylindrical plinths;
square headed carriage entry. To the right are 2 buttresses and an end diagonal
buttress and to the left are 3, all flanked by putlog holes and narrow slit
vents. At the far left is a plain square headed door on the ground floor with a
loft door above in a chamfered surround with a 4-centred head. A C19 extension
to the east (left) has a central, square-headed carriage entry flanked by square
windows with chamfered surronds; central loft under a dormer gable. Interior:
7 bays; remains of arch-braced colar beam trusses; only the central 2 arch-
braces survive; C19 tie-beams added.
