Briscoe (died 1723) and

St Michael's Church.

GV II

Tombchest: dated 1723. Ashlar buff sandstone. Rectangular tombchest
on chamfered plinth with 2 fielded panels on the long sides, one on
the short sides. Cyma-moulded cornice to top slab, the upper surface
of which has a long inscription, in a semi-circular headed border, to
William Briscoe, his wife, brother and sister-in-law, in good serifed
script.
Given the similarity to the item 3/44 the chest, apart from the top
slab, the remainder may date to c1764.
