Formerly school, under conversion to community centre: c1849 probably
by Shellard at the expense of William Atkinson. Tooled ashlar buff
sandstone, Lakeland green slate roof. 2 short parallel ranges.
1-storey, 5-bay front. Chamfered mullioned and transomed windows have
4-centred heads to top lights. 4th bay has a moulded 4-centred arched
doorcase with a crocketted ogee head. Studded door has vertical
rails and heavy strap hinges. Gables are stone-coped and have a
window with trefoil-headed lights to south, broad 4-light wooden
casement to the north. Range to rear similar but simpler.
