7/211 Barn at Roche Old Court

Aisled barn on south-west side of farmyard. C16 or early C17.
Flint and brick dwarf walls with timber framed and weatherboarded
upper half. Tiled roof, half hipped at ends. Six bays, with
cartway in fourth bay and midstrey to outer side. Later opening at
south end.
Interior has jowled arcade posts on stone pads, straight braces to
arcade plates and tie beams. Raking struts to principal rafters
and high collars. Two tiers of butt purlins with curved windbraces
to upper level, and a third tier of purlins to aisle.
Longitudinal timbers have bridled scarfs. Rafters pegged. Some
reused timbers. Wall framing has some angle braces to jowled
posts. Scheduled A.M. (Wiltshire No 309).
