4/6 Punchard Toll House

Toll bar cottage, now in agricultural use. Late C18. Rubble, stone
slate roof. Single-storey building at road side. Window (blocked);
doorway (converted into small window opening); doorway (blocked). Ridge
chimney survives at right end. Roof has been raised at rear. Interior:
living room, with fireplace for kitchen range, to left; office with
smaller fireplace, to right. Toll point, as shown on 1st Edition 6"
O S Map, 1857, of Reeth and Tan Hill Turnpike Road, a rare and
relatively unaltered survival of the turnpike road era in Richmondshire.
