attached barn

House, late C18 attached to barn, C16. Hammer-dressed stone and square rubble,
stone slate roof. House of 2 storeys. Two 4-light flat faced mullioned windows
with same above, separated by doorway with monolithic jambs and 2-light window
over (mullion removed); stone gutter brackets, two stacks to ridge. 5-bay
double-aisled barn overlaps left hand of house and has large rough dressed quoins.
Central square headed entry with composite jambs. Interior of post and truss
construction. All posts have braces to arcade plate and tie-beam on stylobats
with raising holes. Good timbering except to the parallel rafters which cross
at the apex; these may have replaced an earlier collar-rafter roof.
