Description

WEYMOUTH

SY7083 CHURCH ROAD, Preston
873-1/9/461 (West side)
14/06/74 Nos.1 AND 3

GV II

House and shop. Mid C19. Coursed rubble with brick dressings,
slate roofs. No.3 is a wide-frontage house forming the end of
a row, linked by the low range of No.1 to the Spice Ship Inn
(qv) in Preston Road. No.1 is a single-storey block with a
small square light, and a full-height C19 shop front. It is of
importance as the link unit. No.3 is in 2 storeys with 3
windows, 9- above 12-pane sashes in brick dressings with stone
key and stone sills. Centred in a brick arch with keystone is
a C20 door under a blank tympanum; the 'keystones' appear to
be planted onto the brickwork, rather than structural. There
are brick quoins at either end, and brick gable stacks.
Rear has C20 casements and a lean-to for part of the width.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
