Description

WEYMOUTH

SY6677NW BRYANTS LANE, Wyke Regis
873-1/29/619 (East side)
Oban Cottage

II

House at end of row. Late C18 to mid C19. English bond
brickwork, rendered gable, rubble back, slate roof. A
symmetrical-fronted cottage with a one-storey lean-to to the
right, returning to Chamberlaine Road; there is also a lower
parallel range across approximately two-thirds of the back.
2 storeys, 3 windows; margin-pane sashes in moulded flush
boxes, and at ground floor with flush brick segmental
relieving arches.
A central panelled and part-glazed C19 door is on 3 steps and
under a gabled porch with decorative barge-board, and glazed
cheeks on half-height brick walls. A small rubble plinth, and
brick gable stacks.
The lean-to is rendered, but with a brick front wall
continuing the main frontage, to a brick coping, over a wide
plank door. The return has one light. The sash windows suggest
a mid C19 date, but the brickwork and the sash boxes look
earlier.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
