Garden wall and porches attached to front of Colan Barton Farmhouse
GV
II
Garden wall and porches. Early C19, with C20 alterations. Slatestone rubble and cob. Porch with slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. The walls enclose the garden to the front of Colan Barton Farmhouse, an area of about 18 metres by 20 metres, with a porch at each side.
At the front right of the house, the wall is attached, about 3 metres high, in cob with rubble coping. Set in the middle of this range is a Gothic style porch with two-centred arched opening on the garden side and on the outer side, with two-centred arched wooden door and similar internal arch. The wall diminishes in height towards the front range, which is about 1½ metres high with granite coping and a C20 wooden gate in the middle. The wall continues along the left side of the garden with a C20 open-fronted porch with gabled slate roof on wooden posts. Adjoining the left side of the house is a two-centred arched doorway.
