House, now Liberal Club. Dated 1812, with additions of later C20 and alterations of
late C19 and C20. Stone rubble, roughcast. Slate roof with gable end to left,
hipped end to right, with ridge tiles.
Plan: Double depth plan, originally with central entrance and principal rooms to
front left and right. Probably with shallow service rooms to rear. In the late C19
an addition of one bay was made to the right end.
Exterior: 3 storeys, symmetrical 3-window front with band courses and quoins. All
windows have plain eared architraves with keystones. Ground floor has central
portico with square columns with plain capitals, entablature with cornice over the
C20 door. On the frieze of the entablature is early C20 raised lettering in upper
case: ST COLUMB LIBERAL CLUB. C20 balustrade above. C19 4-pane sash to right and
left. First floor has C19 4-pane sash to right and left with central C20 French
windows opening on to the balcony. Second floor has 3 smaller C19 4-pane sashes.
Bay set back to right has C19 4-pane sash at first floor. The right side has random
C20 fenestration and door to right. Left side has 2-storey later C19 addition set an
angle to the main range with a door and window at ground floor, 2 windows at first
floor, one blocked, all with brick segmental arches. The main gable end above has
C20 window at second floor to left and datestone at the apex, 1812.
