Cast-iron mile post, circa 1826. Dome topped, 150mm in diameter and
600mm high. The post supports a curved-on-plan "T" shaped distance
indicator, divided into three 300mm by 225mm panels. The panels have
raised blue capital letters on blue background and read "NANTWICH"
(north) "AUTHERLEY JUNCTION 39 MILES" (south) and "NORBURY JUNCTION
23½ MILES" (lower centre). There are beaded divisions and edgings to
the panels and the lower panel sits on a beaded-ring moulded on the
post.
