SX 35 NW MORVAL HESSENFORD

2 cottages now one. Circa late C17 with second cottage added in circa early C18.
Rendered stone rubble and cob built onto bed rock, slate roof with hipped end on left
and gable end on right with rendered stone rubble probably parlour chimney stack at
lower end on left and large projecting stone rubble rear lateral hall-kitchen stack
on right with brick shaft and cloam oven projection. Further small cottage to rear
of parlour of rendered stone rubble and cob with corrugated asbestos roof with gable
ends and lean-to outshut.
2 room and through passage plan with parlour at lower end on left and hall-kitchen on
right heated by large rear lateral stack with cloam oven. Further circa C18 1-room
cottage added to rear of parlour with outshut added in angle to rear of through
passage of C17 range. 2 cottages combined to form 1 dwelling in circa early C20.
Outbuilding added at higher right-hand gable end of C17 range later converted to
garage.
2 storeys asymmetrical front elevation with no window openings on left-hand side.
Central part glazed late C19/early C20 4-panelled door with C19 2-light casement to
right on ground and first floor. 2-light casement in lower left-hand hipped end with
1-light casement above. 2 storey cottage to rear with C19 casements and outshut with
lean-to corrugated asbestos roof with raised eaves.
Interior Slight plank and muntin screen flanking passage, rough-cut ceiling beams
and C20 chimney pieces. Roof timber not inspected.
