Description

PARISH OF DALE ABBEY LOCKO ROAD
SK 43 NW
5/15 (North Side)
Locko Park Lodges
10.11.67
(formerly listed under
II 'Spondon' CP)

Pair of lodges and attached gates. Late C18. Ashlar with
hipped Welsh slate roofs. Lateral brick stacks. Single storey.
The lodges are an identical matching pair, square in plan with
differing additional wings to rear. Continuous impost bands
around three sides. Moulded cornice and blocking course. The
facing elevations across the drive have an advanced pedimented
bay with a blind round arch, and within it a round arched
doorway with panelled door and overlight. The north and south
elevations have similar treatment of a round-arched window with
glazing bar sash, set in a larger blind round arch. The rear
extensions are cement rendered and in a plainer but similar
style. Wrought iron gates between the two lodges comprise two
pedestrian gates, square openwork gate piers with latticework
sides and pyramidal tops, and a pair of main gates.
