Stables, loosebox and coach house. Circa 1852-1854. By William White for Canon
Reginald Hobhouse. Stone rubble withre-used large granite quoins probably from old
rectory. Steeply pitched roofs with gable ends. With exception of south slope,
corrugated asbestos has replaced the original scantle slates. 'L' shaped plan.
Gothic. Single storey range on left with gabled, 2 storeys, shallow projecting wing
on right. Stable door to loose box on left with 4 plank doors to carriage shed in
centre. Dressed stone segmental arch to right. Projecting gable end with dressed
stone arches to ground and first floor openings. Corrugated asbestos lean-to porch
in juntion. Later single storey shed projects forward from gable end. Rear
elevation with brick dressings to openings. Courtyard to front cobbled, partly
covered. Included for group value with the Chantry.
