SW 7525 MANACCAN HELFORD

7/72 Bridge and Creek Cottage

2 small adjoining houses. Circa early C19. Shale rubble walls, left-hand house
(Bridge) painted, with dressed granite steps, jambs, sills and lintels, shallow brick
arches to first floor openings. Scantle slate roof with gable ends and tall brick
chimney over cross party wall.
Each house is a 2-room plan with nearly central cross passage or entrance vestibule.
Partly built into bank at rear. 1 room plan later C19 part left.
2 storeys. Slightly irregular overall 4-window west front. Left-hand house has wider
frontage and C19 blind extension, possibly store, on left. Doorways roughly middle
of each 2-window front. Bridge, left, has original 4-panel door later top-glazed,
C20 door to Creek Cottage and circa early C20 2-light casements.
Interior not inspected.
Sited in a prominent position at the head of the creek and part of a fairly unaltered
group of houses.
