- of Langford Hill

GV II

Wall, gate piers and gates. C18 wall and gate piers, probably contemporary with
the remodelling of Langford Hill (q.v.), late C19 gates. Stone rubble walls with
slate coping, ashlar gate piers with freestone capping, timber and iron gates.
Gate piers of square section have moulded freestone caps and are surmounted by
stone hounds sejant. Gates have ramped top and middle rails and 2 segmental
braces below the middle rail forming an oval. Verticals of round section project
above the top rail as finials, similar intermediate verticals project as finials
above the middle rail. The outer stiles have small moulded volutes above the top
rail.
