Description

SW 62 NE WENDRON

7/314 Barns adjoining at north west of
- Crasken Farmhouse

GV II

Barns, probably granaries and fodder stores over waggon sheds and shippons, part of
which is converted to dwelling accommodation. Circa mid C19 and late C19. Granite
rubble with granite dressings. Grouted scantle slate roofs with gable ends but
hipped at the junction.
U-shaped plan. The range of 2 barns adjoining the house is partly built into the
bank at the rear and its rear first floor loading doorways are approached by 2
flights of granite steps. The former threshing floor is in the lower right-hand barn
(now accommodation). The other range projecting in front of the left-hand end was
probably a hayloft with shippons under.
Exterior: 2 storeys. The unspoiled exterior has its original window and doorway
openings and many old boarded doors with original hinges. Windows are mostly
probably C20 12-pane 2-light casements.
Interior: Has old floors and original roof structures.
