GV II

Public house. Early C19 with late C19 public house front.
Painted brickwork, slate roof. A broad frontage single-depth
property in 2 storeys and attic.
Four 6-pane sash dormers with alternately triangular and
segmental moulded pediments, above a 16-pane sash, off-centre
left, between 8:12:8-pane oriels with dentil cornices. Ground
floor has a full-width late C19 or early C20 public house
front, with wide lights over a glazed brick stall-riser, and
with triple-paned transom lights, and all in pilasters with
heavy consoles and a deep sloping fascia. A broad central
doorway with transom light has 3 lights to the left and 2 to
the right, then a further door with transom light. Mansard
roof has slate-hanging to the gables, and gable stacks.
The back includes one flat-roofed early dormer, and, to the W
are deep projecting wings in brick and slate. The former list
refers to a shop front, but the design appears to be a
characteristic public house design of the later C19.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
