House. C17 and C18, timber framed. 'U' shaped courtyard group. Main
front block, facing Market Place, is of 2 tall storeys with a half hipped
gambrel peg tile roof with 3 gabled casement dormers. Thin plaster cornice
like band and large moulded plastered name panel with scalloped corners. First
floor has 4 double hung sash windows with small panes and moulded surrounds.
Off-centre late C18 doorcase with open pediment with scroll brackets with
diamond motif, thin pilasters, rectangular fanlight and 4 panel door. 2 double
hung sashes to L of door and one to R with small panes and moulded surrunds.
Behind NE corner fronting North Street, a storey gabled peg tile roofed block
in render, with 2 slated lean-to bay window either side of red brick stack and
oriel casement window over. Mixture of sashes and casements in N end wall and
black weatherboarded gabled wall to N end. Main block has big red brick stack
on rear. Behind NW corner and fronting Star Lane, is a single storey, peg tile
roofed and gabled block, with render over tarred weatherboarding and one gabled
casement dormer. Behind this a further single storey block with gabled slate
roof and tarred weatherboarding. Rear block to NE has remnants of single
storey timber framing of C16/17 with jowled posts.
