NY 23 NE CALDBECK Greenrigg

and adjoining barn

Farmhouse and barn. Dated 1663 over former cross-passage entrance with
illegible inscription. Whitewashed rendered walls under graduated greenslate
roof, part repaired with Welsh slate over barn; brick chimney stack. 2 storeys,
2 bays, with barn to right under common roof and right-angled 2-bay extension to
rear of house, forming overall L-shape. Plank door in cross-passage entrance
under Tudor arch. 3 casement windows in C17 chamfered surrounds and one
enlarged C19 sash window. Barn has blocked 2-light stone-mullioned window above
cross-passage. C20 opening on ground floor and loft above to right. Extension
has sash windows in painted stone surrounds. Further adjoining barns are not of
interest.
