and Blake Hill
Cottage

Farmhouse and adjoining house. Dated 1662 on interior beam with late C18
extension and alterations. Whitewashed rubble with extension of whitewashed
roughcast under graduated greenslate roofs, extension with coped gable and
kneeler to left; stone and rendered chimney stacks. 2 storeys, 3 bays with
higher 2-bay extension to right, now Blake Hill Cottage. Blake Hill Farmhouse
has C20 door within C17 stone gabled porch with internal side seats and recess.
Sash windows in C18 painted stone surrounds, those on both floors to right of
entrance double. Small fire window under wooden lintel to extreme right.
Interior has beamed ceiling, one dated beam and inglenook with firebeam. Blake
Hill Cottage has 6-panel door in chamfered stone surround within C18 gabled
porch with side seats. Sash windows with glazing bars, those left of entrance
double. Interior of passage has built-in carved and panelled court cupboard
inscribed B.S. 1691, which is thought to have come from the adjoining
farmhouse. Adjoining barn to left is not of interest.
