The second sentence of this description shall be amended to read "Probably C16 with later insertion and roof".

BAMPTON NY 51 NW 12/70 Dovecote approx 20 m to south-east of Bampton 6.2.68 Hall (qv) formerly listed as Dovecote)

GV II Dovecote. Probably C13 with later insertion and roof. Stone rubble with large quoins, the upper parts of walls later, slate roof. North-west face has entrance and upper light. North-east face has window opening and gable-end stack. Interior has collar trusses and tie beams at a lower level. Walls lined with slate shelves on stone supports. Fireplace has half loft above with lath and plaster partition forming what is possibly a smoking chamber.
