GV II

House. Circa 1877, on the site of an earlier house, with late C19 extension.
Coursed red sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings, string courses, eaves
modillions and battlemented parapets. Graduated greenslate roofs, partly hipped,
and flat roofs on towers; ashlar chimney stacks. Irregular 2 1/2 storeys, 3 bays
with flanking higher 2-bay wings. Central circular battlemented 3-storey
tower/porch with panelled door under panelled frieze and blank shield. 2- and
3-light cross-mullioned windows. Left wing has bow front with semicircular
angle turrets, sash windows and gabled dormer. Right wing is late C19 with
French window and sash windows in stone architraves. Left glass conservatory
has central double doors under pediment and round-arched 2-light windows under
leaded lights; lantern roof. Rear has sash windows in plain reveals and some
C20 steel casement windows.
