SU 03 SW BARFORD ST MARTIN GROVELY WOOD

Detached house. C17, altered mid C19. Good English bond
brickwork, tiled roof with hip to left and coped verge to right
with brick stack. Two-storey, 3-window. Six-panelled door in
moulded architrave with pedimented hood on brackets to left, two 4-
pane sashes to right. String course to first floor; three 4-pane
sashes with flat arched heads. Attached to left is C19 brick and
flint extension with 4-pane sash to ground floor and two 2-light
casements to first floor. Right return is blind. Rear has
single-storey C19 extension. Interior altered, but retains some
joinery such as window shutters. Probably part of a larger house,
possibly a former hunting lodge to Wilton House.
