1/153 Old Black Horse Cottage

GV II

Formerly inn, now detached cottage. Late C17. Rubble stone, half-
hipped thatched roof, brick stacks. Gable-end to road, T-plan.
One storey and attic, 2 windows. C20 planked door with thatched
canopy, left is 3-light recessed chamfered mullioned window, to
right are 2-light and 3-light casements, the right hand casement
inserted into blocked doorway. Attic has two 3-light casements to
eyebrow dormer. Right return is gable-end to road with fishscale
tile-hung attic with 2-light casement. Rear has large external
lateral stack with coping, wing to right has C20 2-light and 3-
light casements with half-glazed door in lean-to porch.
Interior not accessible at time of survey (March 1985). Sun
Insurance disc to right of front. An inn, replaced by the Black
Horse (q.v.) when the present Dinton to Teffont road opened early
