Milestone. Circa 1814. Approx. one metre tall, set diagonally to road, the top
is halved to form a flat face the words Woodham Mortimer are discernable. This
is the only surviving milestone on this road of a set put down by the parish at
a cost of £7-7s. J. Booker "Essex and the Industrial Revolution" E.R.O. 1974.
