barn approximately 40 metres east-
north-east of Higher Cliston

Former house and barn, now used completely for storage and agricultural purposes.
C17, barn probably added in C18. Cob walls. Gable ended corrugated iron roof with
some thatch below at the barn end. Brick stack at right gable end.
Plan: house originally probably 3-room-and-through-or cross passage plan but the
higher end to the left has been considerably rebuilt and extended as barn. Lower
room and hall heated, the latter by a stack backing onto the passage. There may
have been a newel stair in front of the lower end stack.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 3 window front with barn at left-hand end. C19
leaded pane 2 and 3-light casements. C19 plank door to former passage at right of
centre with oven projection to its left. Shallow rectangular projection in front of
right-hand end. Double doors into left-hand end of original house. Beyond it is
taller barn with wide cart entrance at centre and door at right-hand end.
Interior: chamfered ceiling beams with step stops. 2 open fireplaces with
chamfered lintels. Roof trusses completely renewed.
