Duke of Edinburgh Public House
II
House, now public house. Early to mid C19. Rendered, slate roof. 3 storeys and attic, 2 windows; a 2-light casement flat-roofed dormer above 16-pane and 12-pane sashes at second floor, and a broad canted bow with plain sashes and a 12-pane at first floor, all these with moulded flush boxes. The public house front is in 4 narrow pilasters with octagonal consoles, and with 3 finials above the cornice, with a gated entrance beyond the main facade, under No. 2 to the left, giving to a small lobby with door to the right, and a wide display window with turned pilaster mullions, above a tiled stall-riser. The blocking-course with coping has a thin cornice mould, and there is a stack to the left.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
A notable example of a conversion of a mid C19 house to form a public house, of added significance for its contribution to the commercial street frontage.
