Description

WEYMOUTH

SY6778NE ST THOMAS STREET
873-1/23/347 (East side)
14/06/74 No.37

GV II

House in row, with shop. Early C19. Painted Flemish bond
brickwork, slate mansard roof.
2 storeys, attic and basement; two 4-pane sash gabled dormers
above a large 8:12:8-pame bow oriel with dentil cornice, and a
C20 shop front, centred under the oriel, and with remains of
an earlier dentil cornice. To the right, set back deep, on 4
steps, is a C20 door. The floor level is the same as in the
adjoining No.36 (qv), probably over a basement. A moulded
cornice, and a stack to the left. INTERIOR not inspected.
Although seen as a pair (RCHME), there is a straight joint in
the brickwork between Nos 36 & 37, and the oriel to No.37 is
of bolder projection.
(RCHME: Dorset, South-East: London: 1970-: 352).
