1/60 The Stable Block

II

Stable block to Wiganthorpe Hall, now demolished. Late C18 or early C19.
Brick in English bond, Westmorland slate roof. U-shaped plan. 2 storeys.
Central range has 5 first floor windows, side wings have 2 first floor
windows to front and 3 to courtyard. Central range: 3 wide elliptical-
arched cart entrances. Wings: round-headed 16-pane sashes in blind arches
to front, and round-arched cart entrances to courtyard. Right wing also has
6-fielded-panel door to courtyard. First floor: central range has
6-pane sashes and unglazed windows, Wings: 2 window openings to front and 3
blind windows to courtyard. Dentilled eaves course. Central pediment with
clock surmounted by cupola with weathervane.
