Monument to 7th Earl of Carlisle. 1869 on memorial plaque.
by F.P. Cockerell. Granite and sandstone ashlar. Flight of steps to
platform with helmeted helms at corners. Further steps up to column base
with rusticated quoins and inscription "Vllth EARL OF CARLISLE" with
memorial plaque above. Tall column with 2 garlands hanging down shaft to
north and south. Richly carved capital with scrolls, heads and acanthus
