Cattal bridge carrying Tadcaster Road over River Nidd

Bridge. c1800 with later restoration. Ashlar. 3 round arches with
chamfered moulding. Triangular cut-waters against the 2 central piers
carried up as pedestrian retreats at road level. Flat parapet coping and
north arch extensively repaired. Cattal stands at the crossing point of the
river Nidd of the Roman route between Aldborough and Tadcaster. The present
bridge is said to have been built about 1800, when the river was embanked.
