5/62 Wise's Cottage

GV II

Former stabling accommodation adjoining Wise's (q.v.), now private
house. Probably late C18, restored and converted in C20.
Coursed rubble stone front with quoins to section immediately
adjoining Wise's, rubble to rear, stone slate roof to front and
artificial stone slates to rear with lateral stone stack. Single
range, with single storey and attic to right, stepping back in
centre to 2 storeys on left. Includes flying easement into
Wise's, with room with 2-light stone mullion and transom on front
facade. Two gables to right with large 3 and 2-light wood
casements, ground floor with small C19 gabled porch to left with
glazed inner door, and 4-pane sash in flush stone surround to
right. Wing stepped back to left has large twin casements to each
floor, some with original timber lintels, some with concrete
lintels, and small single-storey addition to left hand end. Room
in left hand wing has chamfered and stopped beam on ground floor,
centre stair divides at rear. Rear facade has 2 and 3-light
casements, some original.
