SO 82 SE STAVERTON BODDINGTON ROAD

GV II
Barn: attached livestock housing beyond. Early C17. Weatherboard
on timber-frame, stone plinth, patched brick in one place,
corrugated iron roof. Four-bay barn, 2-bay lower building beyond,
forming I plan. Gable to road: 2 top-hung shuttered openings,
verge rafter, 2 pairs purlins, half-hip above upper pairs. Right
return: double doorway, to eaves, to right of centre: pitch-hole
to right, boarded over. Gable on right end: lower wing 2 boarded
stable doors. Interior: framing 2 panels high, long braces to
sill, queen-strut truss w-ith braces to wall posts; upper sections
only of what appear to have been long braces from wallposts to a
sill either side of the threshing floor, crossing the bracing to
the tie-beam. Angle strut truss set back on left, no bracing.
Forms group with farmhouse (q.v.).
