Description

GREAT RISSINGTON LEASOW LANE SP 1917-2017 9/182 Glebe Farmhouse 25.8.60 II Farmhouse. Mid C17, extended late C17-early C18. Some limestone rubble, some coursed and squared limestone to left extension. Stone slate at front, concrete tile at rear. Ashlar stacks. Rectangular plan to main body with later extensions at each gable end. C20 concrete block extension at rear not of special interest. Mid C17 range (including late C17 extension); 2 storeys and attic lit by two C20 two-light dormers. Five-windowed facade lit by single-light, 2 and 3-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements. Casement over front door has a hollow-chamfered stone mullion. Central C20 studded plank door with flat stone canopy with a moulded margin supported on moulded brackets. Single-bay late C18 extension to the left; 1½ storeys with C20 slate hung dormer at eaves. Two-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement to the ground floor. Rear of main body; single-light, (?) fire window rear right. One 2-light and one 4-light hollow- chamfered stone-mullioned casement, both with stopped hoods. Blocked doorway at first floor level rear right suggests that this end of the building may once have been used for storage. Gable-end and axial stacks to the main body. Stack at the left gable end with a moulded capping and skirting. Stack at the right gable end with a flat chamfered capping and skirting. Stump only remains of former axial stack. Saddleback coping and moulded kneelers at the left gable end. Limited inspection of interior; one large open fireplace with wooden bressumer.
