House and shop C17-C19. Brick, coursed flint with brick dressings, black
unglazed pantiles. C17 3 bay range to west, refronted late C18; 2 early
C19 wings infilled to east; north-east extension of shop. West front: 2
storeys and attic; brick on rendered plinth; gable end stacks. 2 ground
floor and 2 upper floor 16 pane sashes with glazing bars reaching close to
ground and to floor at first floor level, having exposed sash boxes with
moulded frames; segmental arches. Central door with wide segmental dummy
fanlight. Doorcase of round fluted pilasters under a narrow entablature.
Central dummy window to upper floor with glazing bars in relief. Left hand
gable: coursed flint on flint plinth with brick dressings; decorative brick
pattern work of lozenges; 2 first floor windows with ovolo moulded wooden
mullions; 2 blocked attic windows. One bay, 2 storey wing to rear left
hand side built over older cellar. Recessed 16 pane sashes with glazing
bars, that to ground floor horned. 2 storey wing to right hand side of
coursed flint with scattered C19 and C20 windows. Shop extension facing
road, east: hipped pantile roof behind entablature; C19 glazed shop front
of large panes with glazing bars. Central door with rectangular fanlight.
Moulded pilasters to doorcase and angles. Interior: west range: central
open string staircase with wreathed mahogany handrail; square sectioned
wooden balusters. Fireplace in first floor left hand room with rendered
eliptical arch, jambs having roll moulded chamfers with jewel stops. Ground
floor left hand room to rear with late C18 duck's nest grate.
