Late C19/early C20. Red brick with tile hung upper storey. Tiled roof with Belvedere
which has leaded casements and weathervane. Large house of irregular plan. 2
storeys and dormers. Main facade has 3 windows, generally 3 and 4 light leaded
casements with mullions and transom. 1 angular bay of 4 lights. Door has low
pediment above flat canopy on elaborate, fretted brackets. Stuccoed north eastern
section has 2 storey tower with tiled, pyramidal roof in angle between this and
1 storey portion along road, latter has 3 gabled dormers.

The Anchorage and its boundary wall form a group with Scott's Cottage, its boundary
wall and Gundimore (the modern house between is set back in trees and does not
visually obtrude).
