10/153 The Old Thatch
II
Detached cottage. Late C15/early C16. Timber-framed with
jettied and boarded gable end to street, brick infill partly
rendered, with large downward braces from near wallplate to sill
level. Stone plinth, partly rendered. Thatch roof with half hip
at jettied end, small brick ridge stack, and full hip at opposite
end. North side has one small eyebrow dormer with narrow 3-light
casement, C20 two-light below and lean-to porch to right, an early
plank door to left. South side has mainly square panel framing
with plastered buttress approximately centrally. C20 brick lean-
to to rear not of special interest. Interior not accessible but
likely to be of interest.
